Where to find gacha in Osaka and Kyoto

Osaka has some of the densest clusters of arcades and capsule toy shops outside Tokyo, and Kyoto has more than you might expect between the temples. Here is where to look. Each link opens a map and a full list with addresses and opening hours.

Namba and Den Den Town (Osaka)

Namba is Osaka's food and nightlife hub. Walk south-east to Nipponbashi and you reach Den Den Town, Osaka's answer to Akihabara: anime shops, retro game stores, arcades and gacha shops along Sakaisuji street. This is the best single area in Osaka for both gacha and crane games.

Umeda (Osaka)

Osaka's northern hub around Osaka and Umeda stations. The big department stores and malls have gacha corners, and there are large arcades near the station.

Kyoto: Kawaramachi and Kyoto Station

In Kyoto, head downtown to the covered shopping streets around Shijo-Kawaramachi, where you will find arcades and gacha shops a short walk from Nishiki Market. Kyoto Station's building and the malls around it also have gacha corners, handy if you have time before a train.
