Where to find gacha in Kyoto
Kyoto's gacha shops and arcades are in two places: the downtown shopping streets around Shijo-Kawaramachi, and Kyoto Station. Both are easy to fit in between temples. Each link opens a map and a list with addresses and opening hours.
Kawaramachi and Shinkyogoku
The covered Shinkyogoku and Teramachi shopping arcades, just north of Shijo-Kawaramachi, are the center of gacha in Kyoto. #C-pla has several shops here, including one in Kawaramachi OPA and one on Shinkyogoku, and there is a Gashapon Department Store in the basement of the EDION building on Shijo-dori. GiGO has arcades on Shinkyogoku and in Kawaramachi OPA. Nishiki Market is a few minutes' walk away, and Gion is just across the Kamo River.
Kyoto Station
AEON MALL KYOTO, a few minutes' walk from the south (Hachijo) exit, has a Gashapon Department Store, a Gashapon Bandai Official Shop and a namco arcade on the 4th floor. On the north side, Yodobashi Camera in front of the station has a gacha corner. This is the place to go if you have time before a shinkansen.
Tips
- Shops inside malls and department stores close with the building, usually at 8 or 9 pm. Arcades on Shinkyogoku stay open later.
- Osaka is about 30 minutes away by train and has many more shops. See where to find gacha in Osaka.
